Project Location: 15230 Frankfurt (Oder)
Organizer: pewobe gGmbH
The mentor and 12 members of the youth group, aged 13-21, are part of the German-Polish competence team in Frankfurt (Oder). The group consists of young people from Germany, Poland, and those of Ukrainian and Syrian origin. The project theme directly relates to the region and its unique features. Słubice and Frankfurt (Oder) are renowned for their special location, cooperation, and cultural diversity. The exploration of the region’s history is considered important as it has not been clearly documented before.
The goal is to jointly consider how this history can be passed on to future generations. As part of the project, a workshop will be organized for local residents to discuss the development of German-Polish collaboration and gather ideas. The youth group also plans to create a video showcasing life in Frankfurt (Oder) and Słubice, both past and present. This video will be presented to residents during the workshop.
To gain a better understanding of the past 100 years, they will visit the city archive in Frankfurt (Oder) and the city library in Słubice. During their journey through history, they will meet seniors from the organization “My Life” in Frankfurt (Oder) and seniors from Cybinka. Another highlight is visiting another twin city, Zgorzelec-Görlitz, where they will conduct research, take a city tour, and exchange ideas with youth and witnesses to history.
