The project “People doomed people to this fate“ took place from August 17 – August 21, 2021 in Kraków. The project was organized together with our partner CIM Horyzonty and was funded by Deutsch-Polnisches Jugendwerk – Polsko-Niemiecka Współpraca Młodzieży.
12 participants, from Germany and Poland, talked about the cruelty of the 2nd World War, visited the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and learned about the authentic stories of people living in this time. They could deepen their knowledge of history and human rights. The title of the project itself comes from the book “Medallions” by Zofia Nałkowska. It is a collection of eight stories describing the fate of people who survived Nazi persecution. Participants had the opportunity to learn about its fragments. On the basis of them, various workshops and visit the memorial place Auschwitz-Birkenau, they could draw conclusions and reflect on this topic.
