On this website, we want to present to you our German-Polish cooperation. We will introduce the activities that took place while we were funded as a “Lighthouse project” of German-Polish Youth Office (Deutsch-Polnisches Jugendwerk) and will present here all other activities that took place in the past involving young people from Frankfurt (Oder), Słubice and beyond. You can also find current programmes that are open for new participants and we are happy to have as many young people as possible to join us! Besides that you can also find information about the different partners we are cooperating with. Thanks to the endorsement as a Lighthouse Initiative of Deutsch-Polnisches Jugendwerk, we want to focus on our German-Polish cooperation and on activities that bring young people from both countries together.
The name of our project is “Dawaj!”. It is a very famous word in the world, derived from the Slavic languages. Used not only in Poland but also in Russia, Ukraine or Belarus. It has a special meaning for us, due to its two meanings, not necessarily known to everyone:
1. ‘Dawaj’ means to give something. We want to give young people from Poland and Germany the opportunity to acquire knowledge, train their soft skills and support them in their self-development. With our cross-border projects and programmes geared towards cooperation, we create a place where they can put their ideas into practice, share their interests and where a foreign language is not a barrier. Our aim is to strengthen cohesion between young and old, Słubicans and Frankfurters, Poles and Germans.
2. To “give” is a word meaning support and mobilizing to act. We want to reach more residents of the twin city and the surrounding area, also encourage them to work together for the benefit for the local community. Through specially prepared projects, meetings and workshops, they can acquire the necessary knowledge. Our goals are: breaking language barriers, developing passions and interests, spreading knowledge about various forms of financing and preparing for public speeches.
