The birth of the organisation in Frankfurt (Oder)
With the social change in 1989/1990, the valid laws of the Federal Republic were also introduced in our region. At the beginning of the 1990s, a company called “PeWoBe” existed in Berlin. Based on the relevant social laws, this company was involved in various social projects for different age groups. Over the years, the organisation expanded into the federal state of Brandenburg, among other places. Initially, there were several dependent branches in individual cities that were structurally assigned to the company “PeWoBe”. In 1994, a branch office was established in Frankfurt (Oder). The branch office “PeWoBe Frankfurt (Oder)” focused its work on SGB VIII also known as the Child and Youth Welfare Act. From the beginning, we have been active in the fields of educational assistance and open child and youth work (nationally and internationally). As early as 1995, the range of specialist areas was extended to include youth vocational assistance and, in 1996, day-care centres for children. The projects were located in the city of Frankfurt (Oder), in Eisenhüttenstadt and in 1996 also in communities in the district of Märkisch Oderland. With the necessary public recognition as an independent organisation in accordance with the legal regulations, the branch office of PeWoBe Berlin became the independent and legally autonomous pewobe g GmbH in Frankfurt (Oder) on 6th of June 1996.
The development of the organisation
Since then, we have been developing steadily in terms of quality and quantity. All our facilities and projects are still based on the Child and Youth Welfare Act (SGB VIII). We are present in the social areas of Frankfurt (Oder), the districts of Märkisch-Oderland and Oder-Spree as well as Berlin. Throughout the entire period, we have developed youth welfare services that are always innovatively adapted to changing needs and/or social challenges.
The mission statement
In all our fields of work and activity, we are always concerned with people, with the family in the context of its social environment. In the spirit of Protagoras
