The European Civic Service (ECS), established in 2021, offers young people the opportunity to develop essential extracurricular skills while engaging with diverse cultures.

Aimed at individuals aged 18 to 30, the program focuses on volunteering in social, ecological, and cultural projects. To make the program more accessible to all, the European Civic Service offers:

  • 6 months of civic service (or a long-term youth volunteering program) in one’s home country. During this time, participants live and work with young people from across Europe (50% local and 50% international), while also preparing for their departure. This preparation includes language training.
  • 6 to 12 months of European mobility in the country of their choice, facilitated by the European Solidarity Corps.

Participants undertake their assignments in mixed groups—called SCE cohorts—made up of 50% nationals and 50% Europeans.

The initiative also includes a progressive inclusion mechanism designed to support Young People with Fewer Opportunities (YPLO).

If you’re interested in participating in the European Civic Service (also referred to as the European Volunteering Year), please fill out the form below, and we will get in touch with you.
